POON HILL TREK – 7 NIGHT ‘PACKAGE’

The Ghorepani and Poon Hill Trek is one of the most  famous treks in Nepal, offering some of the best views of Annapurna and Dhaulagiri Mountain ranges. The highest point of this trek is Poon Hill  at 3210 metres, from where you will able to see a spectacular sunrise view over the Himalayas. The trek will take you through unique terrain and in the spring you will see orchids and many rhodedendron, Nepal's national flower.

There is also plenty of wildlife, such as the white-capped river chat, brown dipper and white-breasted kingfisher; butterflies abound and you may see musk deer.  On the trek you will see spectacular mountain scenery and will pass through charming Gurung and Magar villages

Those doing the trek should be in good physical condition. It is a well-trodden path, so in the peak season don't expect to be alone to watch the sunrise.

Some say the view from Poon Hill is one of the most spectacular mountain-scapes on earth.

The best seasons for this trek are from March to May and from September to December, but it can be done during most months of the year, with the exception of late June, July and August.

Day 1.   Upon arrival in Pokhara, Peace Dragon’s friendly driver will meet you at Pokhara Airport or tourist bus station and will bring you Peace Dragon Lodge where you will have time to settle into your room and relax before dinner. Depending on your time of arrival, you will have time for a short village walk, and visit to the local World Peace Pagoda.

Day 2. Breakfast and dinner at Peace Dragon, but the rest of the day is free for you to explore as you wish. You will probably want to walk down to the tourist area of Lakeside to discover the shops and restaurants and of course Phewa Lake, or you may prefer to visit Davie’s Fall, Gupteshwar Cave, Tashi Ling Tibetan Refugee Camp and maybe the International Mountain Museum.

Alternatively you can simply while away your time up here at Peace Dragon to absorb the views with a good book; if you didn’t do our village tour on Day 1, this can be arranged on Day 2 if you prefer.

Day 3.  Leaving your heavy bags here at the Lodge, after breakfast

take a 75 minute drive to Nayapul and then trek for 5 or 6 hours to Thikhedunga/Ulleri.

Day 4.   A walk of about 6 hours to Ghorepani.

Day 5.  An early morning one hour hike to Poon Hill and back to Ghorepani for breakfast, then a 5 hour trek to Tadapani

Day 6.  A 5 hour trek from Tadapani to Jhinu Dada  where the hot springs are located.

Day 7.   Wake up early to visit the hot springs again if you like (30 minute walk), then back to your mountain guest house for breakfast. Trek back to Birthanti  - this takes between 3 and 6 hours depending on your stamina and where you want to pick up wheeled transport.  Then drive back to Peace Dragon Lodge
for your last night here, with dinner.

Day 8. If the weather is favourable, enjoy yet another wonderful sunrise and a hearty breakfast before leaving Peace Dragon. Our taxi driver will take you down to Pokhara airport, the bus park, or to Lakeside if you plan to spend more time there before your onward journey.
